The laser rifle is the strongest weapon out there right now, but it does have some problems.
1) High ping makes it harder to use because of "lag" shots
2) "Lock up" caused by lag
3) Visible beam makes it easier to dodge (somewhat)
A nerf is probably the best way to go, though. Maybe less powerful shots would be another way to nerf snipers.
